WARRINGTON Town have completed their third new signing of the summer with the capture of wide midfielder Connor Hughes.

Hughes, 24, came through the youth ranks at Oldham Athletic and made eight appearances in the Football League under the tutelage of Paul Dickov.

He then spent two years at Hyde, scoring eight goals in 44 appearances, before spells at Halifax, Bradford Park Avenue (loan) and Worcester City, who he joined for an undisclosed fee late last year.

His 2016/17 campaign was curtailed by a knee injury suffered on New Year’s Day against Kidderminster, but he is due to report for pre-season with the Yellows this weekend fully fit.

Yellows chairman, Toby Macormac, said: “After signing two frontmen, we were keen to strengthen on the flanks and Connor is a player that can play on both the left and right side.

“He clearly has decent pedigree, having moved clubs for a fee less than a year ago, and his injury wasn’t as bad as first feared.

“Our pre-season starts this weekend, and Cards (manager Paul Carden) is looking forward to welcoming the three new signings and those players invited back from last season, as well as a few trialists as we gear up for the pre-season games.”

Strikers Josh Hine and Tony Gray have previously been announced by the Yellows, who have also handed out new deals to Dylan Vassallo and Sean Williams.

The arrival of Hughes comes as a boost, following the recent departures of Scott Harries (Lancaster), Lewis Codling (Skelmersdale) and Michael Monaghan (Trafford).

After the players have reported for pre-season training on Saturday, the Yellows will be hosting a Supporters Club meeting at the Warrington Town Sports & Social Club, where the club’s new away kit and season ticket details for the new campaign will be revealed.
