Tribute to long-serving volunteer and family member, Carolyn

Everyone at Warrington Town is mourning the sudden passing of long-serving volunteer and family member Carolyn Van’t Sant Stephenson.

Carolyn was our glamorous snack bar lady for the past eight years, after being introduced to the club by her cousin, Yellows’ General Manager Lisa Macormac.

Our thoughts are with Carolyn’s husband Ian, Lisa and all their family and friends.

Lisa has put together the following tribute.

“Carolyn started volunteering when her mum (my mums twin sister) died. I wanted to try and get them both out of the house and try and take their minds off the big hole my Auntie had left in our lives. I suggested to Cal she could come down and open the new snack bar for me and volunteer on match days. She said I’ll do it if your mum comes too!

“The rest is history. 8 years on and she was still there, as well as having a full time job.

“She did a lot more behind the scenes not just on match days.

“She was hooked and loved the club, the players, the supporters, the banter and everything about the club. She even roped in her husband Ian who also became a big fan and was often seen helping out in the snack bar.

“Carolyn was always smiling and laughing, she was so kind and thoughtful and always put everyone first. She made lots of friends at the club and has left a big hole in their lives too.

“I can’t put into words how much Carolyn was a big part of my life and our football families. She wasn’t just my cousin, a volunteer; she was my big sister.

“Carolyn would do anything for anyone myself included, I didn’t even have to ask. she had such a big heart. I’m still in shock and heartbroken.

“Ian and I would like to thank everyone for their kind messages and support through this difficult time.”

There will be a minute’s applause in tribute to Carolyn ahead of this evening’s pre-season friendly against Bolton Wanderers.
