Amis backs arrival of new striker

Josh Amis has said that latest signing Chris Holroyd is a great addition to the squad.

Paul Carden recently signed Holroyd from Premier Division rivals Stalybridge Celtic, adding competition to the forward line.

The 33-year-old played alongside Paul Carden and Mark Beesley at Cambridge United more than a decade ago, and Amis is looking forward to working alongside his new teammate.

“I think it’s a good signing, he’s been looking sharp in training,” said Amis.

“I think he brings something different to myself and Jordan (Buckley), so he’s a good addition to the squad.”

The Yellows currently sit at the top of the Pitching In Northern Premier League Premier Division table, with four wins from four and yet to concede their first league goal.

Amis said: “I think it’s been a great start for us. We have played some good teams that I believe will be up there near the end of the season, so it’s been some good wins.

“But I also think there is still more to come from us which is only going to be a good thing.

“I think the good start to the season carries on just by doing them simple things right and working hard. I think if we do them right, the quality of the team will always come through.”
