Bohan Dixon: Belief is the key to success this season

Warrington Town midfielder Bohan Dixon says his side have what it takes to secure promotion this season, but insists belief will be pivotal.

The Yellows currently occupy the final play-off spot in the Pitching In Northern Premier League Premier Division as they prepare to face Morpeth Town at Cantilever Park – the first of back-to-back fixtures against the Highwaymen.

Town will be without Dixon for the next two matches after he accumulated 10 yellow cards, while defender Matty Regan will also sit out Saturday’s game following his recent sending-off away at Hyde United.

A dramatic 1-0 victory at play-off rivals FC United of Manchester last time out saw Mark Beesley’s side bounce back to winning ways, before last Saturday’s trip to Basford United was postponed due to adverse weather conditions and storm damage.

Dixon, who has experienced promotion earlier in his career, says there will be no better feeling if the squad can turn their ambitions into reality.

“It’s very important that we stick together, work hard for each other and the results will look after themselves,” he said.

“It’s about getting everyone on the same page. If we believe in ourselves, there’s more than enough quality in our dressing room.

“There’s no better feeling than getting promoted. I’ve been there and it’s class!”

Dixon came close to helping the Yellows secure promotion to the Vanarama National League North in 2018/19, only to see the club suffer a heartbreaking ‘super play-off final’ defeat to Kings Lynn Town.

Now one of the more experienced figures in Beesley’s promotion-chasing squad, Dixon accepts that the big-game experience of himself and other senior members of the squad could prove to be invaluable as this season nears its conclusion.

He jokingly added: “Talking of senior players, we played ‘oldies vs youngens’ in training, and us older guys battered them. Someone needs to find out if Ben Hough is okay!”
