Buxton game postponed

Today’s home game against Buxton has been postponed.

Although the Northern Premier League had issued a statement saying all games could go ahead despite the COVID-19 outbreak, Buxton contacted the league on Saturday morning to express their concerns about making the trip to Cantilever Park.

This came following the news that Matlock Town had reported that a member of their camp was in self-isolation due to suspected COVID-19 symptoms. Matlock had played at Warrington on Tuesday night.

Yellows chairman Toby Macormac said: “There are no issues whatsoever with the environment at Warrington Town and there are no reported health concerns from any player or member of staff.”

Due to Buxton’s reluctance to travel, unfortunately there was no alternative but to postpone the game.

The club now awaits further updates from the Northern Premier League on the continuation of the season, with further discussions expected on Monday.

Warrington’s next scheduled game is away at Mickleover Sports on Tuesday March 17.
