Club secretary to run three marathons for charity

Warrington Town club secretary Chris Lemaire will be running the London, Brighton and Leeds Marathons this year in aid of VICTA, an organisation that supports and empowers children and young adults who are blind or partially sighted.

Aware that feelings of isolation and loneliness are dominant within the world of visual impairment, VICTA use activity-based learning as a positive setting for social interaction.

For the blind and partially sighted young people, involvement in team-based activities can be positively associated with social acceptance and a sense of belonging, especially where such involvement is characterised by positive coaching, progressive skill development and peer support.

VICTA work hard to help young people question limiting presumptions they might have, helping them to view themselves and their potential in a new way. VICTA want them to be able to make a difference to their own lives.

Last year, Lemaire ran the same three marathons and raised over £2,200, in support of Great Ormond St. Children’s Hospital.

He said: “VICTA is a wonderful organisation, and if you look on their website, you will see some of the fantastic activities that they organise, and the happiness that they bring into people’s lives.

“Please donate what you can afford for a brilliant cause. However small, every mile matters and every £ matters.”
