Fans to walk from Chester to Warrington on New Year’s Day to help two young girls

A group of Chester fans are walking 23 miles from the Leap76 Stadium to Cantilever Park on New Year’s Day to raise money for two young girls who are unfortunately very unwell.

Two-year-old Maddie is from Warrington and has been diagnosed with Nephroblastoma, a stage 4 Wilms tumour, which has metastasized to her lungs with a mediastinal mass.

Unfortunately, specialists are not sure whether Maddie will survive this, so funds are being raised to ensure that her and her family can make as many memories as possible during this time whilst helping with the financial impacts this has had on the family.

Ava, also two, is from Chester and has glioblastoma tumour. Through surgeries, radiotherapy, and setbacks, Ava’s resilience and infectious smile inspires everyone around her.

Her family are hoping to raise enough funds to try a new experimental immunotherapy treatment, which can only be done privately, in order to give her the best chance of survival. The family need to raise around £30,000 for this to happen.

The match ball has been sponsored in the name of Ava and Maddie, while proceeds from all matchday programme sales on the day are going to be donated to the fund. There will also be a bucket collection at the ground on the day for the cause.

The fans will be setting off from the Leap76 Stadium at around 4.30am on match day, with stop-offs in Helsby and Runcorn on the way. Fans of both clubs are welcome to join the walk at any point, should they wish.

More than £2,000 has already been raised. You can donate to the cause via JustGiving here: https://www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/BlaconSealsWalk
