Festive fixtures postponed

Warrington Town regretfully confirms that the two scheduled fixtures on Boxing Day and New Year’s Day have been postponed.

Although the Yellows were keen to play both games, opponents Witton Albion and Bamber Bridge have exercised the option to postpone the games, following the Northern Premier League’s statement last week.

That unfortunately means we will not play again in 2020, and await further news on when the league season can resume.

While, like every other club, we are adversely affected by the current restrictions, we were keen to return to action as soon as fans were able to return, especially as it doesn’t look like the situation will be getting any better in the New Year.

Without playing football, the prospects of another null and void season are increasingly likely – and that would be of great disappointment and also cause issues of its own in relation to things like season tickets and sponsors.

What we do not want to do is rely on the goodwill of fans once again; we wanted to make the best of the situation that is presented to us, which is of no fault to the club, other clubs or indeed the league.

If the league season is unpaused, the Yellows’ next scheduled game is away at Gainsborough Trinity on Saturday January 9.

All tickets purchased for the game against Bamber Bridge on New Year’s Day have been refunded.
