Grivosti returns to become first summer signing

Warrington Town have completed the signing of Matt Grivosti following his release by Bolton Wanderers.

Grivosti, 20, returns for a second spell at Cantilever Park after making 36 appearances in the 2021/22 season which caught the eye of the Football League club.

He featured for Bolton’s B team, as well as playing on loan at Yeovil Town and in the Northern Premier League with Radcliffe.

The attacking midfielder is Mark Beesley’s first new signing of the summer as the club prepares for life in National League North.

Beesley said: “With us losing Stef [Mols], we knew there was an opportunity for someone to come into the squad in that forward area and Matt fits the bill.

“He’s an exciting player that can play either side or through the middle. He scored a lot of important goals for us during his first spell and it got him his move to Bolton Wanderers.

“From there, he probably didn’t have his best season out on loan and he knows that, but we feel we can get the best out of him and get him back to the levels he was at two years ago.

“He’s one that fits the bill with us – he’s young, keen and eager to learn so he fits the ethos of what we want in the forward areas of the pitch.”

Grivosti came through The Fowler Academy system, and was introduced to the club by Beesley.

He made his Yellows debut on the opening day of the 2021/22 season against FC United and went on to score nine goals. That included winners in the FA Cup game at Kendal Town and Gainsborough Trinity, while he bagged braces against Grantham Town and Stalybridge Celtic.

His last appearance for the club came in April 2022 in the 2-0 win over Witton Albion.

Mols was the only member of the play-off final winning team that hadn’t committed to a new deal, and he has since signed for Curzon Ashton.

The three home pre-season friendlies then follow against City of Liverpool (July 8), Accrington Stanley (July 11) and Morecambe (July 15).
