Mo Ali: “I’m here to get promoted”

Recent Warrington Town signing Mo Ali says he has joined the club to get promoted.

Centre-back Ali started the pre-season games against Chorley and Southport, where he spent last season, and made his official Yellows debut in the opening game of the season at home to FC United of Manchester.

The 27-year-old has also represented Somalia, and featured in their recent 2021 Fifa Arab Cup game with Oman at the Jassim Bin Hamad Stadium, Qatar.

Ali also started in the club’s mid-week 0-1 victory away to Stafford Rangers.

“I’m here to get promoted,” said Ali.

“We have a good, quality squad and I know a few players here that I have played with in the past past. I know the quality that’s here and I think we should be aiming for promotion.

“It’s my first time under Paul Carden. I’m still getting to know him and it’s all good so far. It’s been very enjoyable because of the players that I know. There’s five players here I’ve played with in the past and that made my time settling in much easier.

“The gaffer seems to know what the’s doing in terms of training sessions and stuff like that and I like it.”

A strong 1,105 crowd attended the Yellows’ opening game to the Pitching In Northern Premier League 2021/22 campaign at Cantilever Park, and the squad return to action this Saturday at Scarborough before returning home on Tuesday, August 24, against Atherton Collieries.

“I like playing in front of fans,” said Ali.

“It obviously makes it more enjoyable. I get a bit of a buzz when there’s people there and it’s you get to kind of show what you’re good at so it makes it enjoyable for me.

“I’ve been there a few times up to Scarborough. It’s not going to be an easy game but we go there and have to be as solid as we have been in the last two games and hopefully get another clean sheet and another win.”

Tickets are available online for next Tuesday’s home fixture with Atherton Collieries at Cantilever Park.
