New boys Carney and Amado looking forward to first Cantilever Park appearance

Summer signings Craig Carney and Joel Amado have both expressed their excitement ahead of their non-competitive debuts at Cantilever Park this evening against City of Liverpool FC.

Carney, 27, joined the club after spells at FC United and Clitheroe last season, while Amado, 22,  was part of the Trafford side that won the Integro League Cup in 2019.

Both players could make their non-official debuts tonight in the fifth 2020/21 pre-season fixture in front of a sold out 300 strong crowd.

Carney said: “It’s the first time we’ve been at home during pre-season so it’ll be good to experience it from being a Warrington player.

“I’ve been here as an opponent quite a few times and it hasn’t been a happy hunting ground so I’m hoping we can continue with another good performance and keep this winning and unbeaten run going.”

Amado said: “I’m looking forward to seeing what it’s like to play at Cantilever Park and see what the fans are like and hopefully it’ll be a good game.”

The game will see fans return for the first time, with tickets still on sale for our upcoming home friendlies against both Southport and AFC Fylde.

“It’s a huge boost for everyone in Football from the Premier League right the way down to non-league and not only for the players and staff but for the fans themselves.” said Carney.

“It’s their lives, it’s part of their routine and habits and it gives the players a massive boost and an added edge.”

Amado added: “It’s been a long time without football for both players and fans.

“You can sense the difference in the atmosphere when playing in front of a crowd and when you’re not. It’s a bonus for everyone and I’m sure the fans are buzzing to be back.”

Joel is sponsored by Jamie & Jess, and Craig is sponsored by Warrington Town Supporters Club.
