Preview: Bishop’s Stortford vs Warrington Town

Warrington Town are back on their travels this Saturday as they make the 394-mile round trip to face Bishop’s Stortford in the National League North.

The Yellows came back from 2-0 down to earn a deserved point at home against South Shields last weekend after spending 90 minutes with just 10 men following Andy White’s early dismissal.

Mark Beesley’s side will be hoping to build upon last Saturday’s resilient performance by picking up three points in Hertfordshire against Bishop’s Stortford.

Below, we’ve compiled everything you need to know ahead of the fixture.

Team News

Left-back Andy White will be unavailable for Saturday’s clash following his red card against South Shields.

There are no fresh injury concerns from last weekend’s game at the UNIS Compliance Stadium.

Mark Beesley preview

Manager Mark Beesley is gearing his players up for what will be their longest league away trip, as they make the 394-mile round journey to take on Bishop’s Stortford.

Their most recent long-distance awayday to Banbury United resulted in a 3-0 defeat with the Yellows conceding two goals in the first 15 minutes and Beesley has warned his side that they need to start on the front foot from the first whistle.

“A lot of the lads have been professional footballers in the past – they understand the situation, what they’ve got to do and how they’ve got to prepare,” Beesley said.

“We’ll prepare as well as we can. The last long-distance travel that we did, we didn’t start the game very well so it’s important that we’re switched on a little bit more this time around.

“They [Bishop’s Stortford] have got to do it themselves every other week so we’ve just got to get this one out of the way.”

Dec Walker preview

Right-back Dec Walker also admits that his squad need to prepare in the best possible way if they are to come away with a positive result at Bishop’s Stortford.

Despite the fact that the Blues sit third-bottom in the National League North table, Walker has said that his side will not take anything for granted as they look for their first away victory since August.

“There are no easy games in this league, as we’ve already seen,” he said.

“Everyone beats everyone at this level, so if you turn up at half-mast, you’re not going to get the results that you’ve trained so hard for.

“We need to be on it for every game. It doesn’t matter if they’re top of the league or bottom of the division – every match is tough in this league and we have to bring our A-game.”
