Preview: Buxton vs Warrington Town

For the first time in two-and-a-half weeks, Warrington Town are back on the road tonight as they visit Buxton in the National League North.

The two teams have enjoyed plenty of memorable encounters over recent years but will now meet for the first time in this division, with just four points separating them in the league table.

Mark Beesley’s Yellows – who were without a game on Saturday after their home clash with Southport was postponed due to a frozen pitch – will be hoping to complete a league double over the Bucks at the Tarmac Silverlands Stadium, with Matty Grivosti firing them to all three points at Cantilever Park back in August.

Town will be without defender Mitch Duggan, who begins a three-match suspension for the red card picked up against Tamworth on January 9.

Captain Josh Amis and midfielder Jay Harris could come back into the mix, while Matty McDonald is also pushing to start.

Tuesday is expected to come too soon for 2022/23 Player of the Year Evan Gumbs as he continues his comeback from a long-term hernia injury.
