Preview: Darlington vs Warrington Town

Warrington Town are on their travels on Tuesday night, with Darlington next on the horizon in the National League North.

Having been knocked out of the FA Trophy at the first hurdle by Blyth Spartans on Saturday afternoon, the Yellows will be eager to make amends with a more positive showing on the league front.

Their opponents, Darlington, have just three wins to show from their 18 league matches so far this season, but it will be by no means an easy task against a Quakers side also keen to avenge consecutive defeats in league and cup.

Tuesday’s game is expected to come too soon for Peter Clarke, who suffered a groin injury in the Yellows’ last league outing at home to Rushall Olympic.

Jordan Buckley is also a major doubt, having been forced off during the first half on Saturday.

Mark Beesley preview

Yellows manager Mark Beesley says Tuesday night’s trip to the north-east provides the opportunity to make immediate amends for Saturday’s FA Trophy disappointment.

Despite being without key personnel, Beesley is hopeful his squad can refocus and get back to winning ways at Blackwell Meadows.

“It’s always going to be tough with 14 players. We’re down to 13 now with someone going off injured, so we’re just going to have to see how we are,” he said.

“We can address it [the Blyth Spartans defeat] quickly – back to league action on Tuesday, we need to get a reaction like last time we lost in the league.”
