Preview: Morpeth Town vs Warrington Town

Warrington Town will lock horns with Morpeth Town for the fourth and final time this season on Saturday afternoon, with the pair set to face off in the Northern Premier League.

Confidence will be high for the Yellows after they overcame Bamber Bridge 1-0 last weekend to stretch their unbeaten league run to 16 matches.

Having already beaten the Highwaymen in league and cup this season, Mark Beesley’s side will hope to reinforce their play-off hopes with another strong showing on the road.

There are several options available for Mark Beesley, with Andy White, Larnell Cole, Stefan Mols and Tom Warren among the players who will hope for a recall.

Warrington Town must use last weekend’s remarkable 1-0 win at home to Bamber Bridge to their advantage ahead of a tricky run of fixtures, says forward Luke Duffy.

Despite playing virtually the entirety of last weekend’s match with 10 men following an early red card for Sean Williams, the Yellows defied the odds and picked up three points against their play-off rivals.

“Saturday was a massive win for the lads,” Duffy said.

“I thought the red card was a bit harsh but that’s football. Overall, it showed how much character we have as a team.

“Everyone put a shift In and we deserved the three points. It could be the difference come the end of the season, so we just need to keep plugging on and taking each game at a time.”
