Preview: Tamworth vs Warrington Town

After suffering defeat at home against Darlington, Warrington Town travel to Staffordshire in an attempt to delay Tamworth’s promotion celebrations.

The Yellows’ opponents come into this one knowing a point from their final three league games will be enough to secure the National League North title, and Mark Beesley will be determined to ensure it doesn’t happen against his side.

Town will be looking to avenge a 3-0 defeat when the two sides met at Cantilever Park in January thanks to goals from Ben Milnes, Jamie Jellis and Kyle Finn.

Below, we’ve compiled everything you need to know ahead of the fixture.

Team news

Midfielder Jay Harris will be unavailable for the trip as he serves the second game of a three-match ban following a red card that he incurred against Scunthorpe United.

There are no fresh injury concerns for Mark Beesley’s side following Easter Monday’s defeat to Darlington.

Warrington Town boss Mark Beesley acknowledged that his side’s home form hasn’t been good enough towards the end of the season, with Monday’s defeat being the fourth straight at Cantilever Park.

Whilst Monday’s loss ended any real hope of finishing in the National League North playoffs, the focus now is to secure a top-half finish in the Yellows’ first season at this level.

“This group of players have been outstanding for this club and to be even speaking about the playoffs is testament to how far we’ve come,” he said.

“We’re probably not going to get there now but that doesn’t mean we won’t keep fighting and pushing to do better.”
