Preview: Warrington Town vs Alfreton Town

Warrington Town will look to bounce back after their defeat to Tamworth in midweek when Alfreton Town visit Cantilever Park on Saturday in the National League North.

The Yellows were soundly beaten 3-0 by the league leaders on Tuesday evening, and will now look to kick on against another tough opponent in Alfreton.

The two sides met each other back in October at the Impact Arena, coming away with a point after Matt Grivosti scored an equaliser on the stroke of half-time to cancel out Peter Clarke’s early own goal.

Below, we’ve compiled everything you need to know ahead of the fixture.

PLEASE NOTE: There will be a pitch inspection at 10am on Saturday morning.

Team news

Mark Beesley’s side has no fresh injury concerns following the Tamworth fixture.

Evan Gumbs continues to work his way back to fitness following a hernia injury which has kept him out of the squad since August.

Warrington Town manager Mark Beesley is looking to rally his team following their 3-0 defeat to Tamworth in midweek.

The Yellows came into the fixture on the back of two tough clashes against Chester and South Shields, but the arrival of the league leaders to Cantilever Park was a step too far for his side.

Beesley will be hoping to utilise the Alfreton match as an opportunity to move on from Tuesday and to ensure that it doesn’t hinder the progress that they have made in recent weeks.

“We can’t be too disappointed, we’ve got to learn and move on quickly because we’ve got another tough game [against Alfreton Town].

“Three-game weeks are tough for us – we’ll have to see if we can freshen things up and make some changes for Saturday because we’ve got to use everybody when it’s a three-game week.

“We are going to lose games in this league, but we’ve got to make sure that when we do lose games, we bounce back with a better performance and then the results tend to look after themselves.

“We can’t let it derail us but it does happen in this league because it’s unforgiving, you can bounce from game to game with a few losses so it’s important that we dust ourselves down and get ready for Saturday.”
