Preview: Warrington Town vs Belper Town

Warrington Town take to the field at Cantilever Park for the first time this year on Saturday afternoon, with Belper Town the latest visitors.

After a run of three consecutive draws in the Northern Premier League, the Yellows will go in search of a much-needed victory against the side currently second-bottom in the division.

Mark Beesley’s side are two points adrift of the play-off places heading into the latest round of action.

Saturday’s fixture will also see new Nailers boss Lee Attenborough take his place in the dugout for the first time following his appointment earlier this week.

The Yellows will be without defender Josh Seary, who has returned to parent club Preston North End following the conclusion of his loan spell.

Josh Amis could start for the first time since returning from suspension, while Jordan Buckley is also available as he continues to work his way back to full fitness.

Midfielder Matty McDonald missed last Monday’s trip to Nantwich Town with a back injury, and he will continue to be monitored ahead of the weekend.

Josh Amis insists his side cannot afford to let league position dictate how they approach Saturday’s clash with Belper Town.

The two teams are currently 17 points and 12 places apart in the Northern Premier League table, although Saturday’s visitors do arrive in Cheshire looking for back-to-back wins after their 2-1 triumph at home to Stafford Rangers last time out.

“We will be trying to get maximum points but we do every game regardless of the opposition,” Amis said.

“I think this league is very competitive, so anyone can beat anyone and there’s not a side that can be taken lightly.

“It’s a challenge I’m definitely looking forward to, and hopefully I can do enough to start this weekend.”
