Preview: Warrington Town vs Nantwich Town

The second half of this year’s August Bank Holiday weekend double-header will see Warrington Town welcome Cheshire rivals Nantwich Town to Cantilever Park in the Northern Premier League.

With the Yellows’ unbeaten start to the new campaign ending at Ashton United last time out, and Nantwich Town also losing by a one-goal margin at home to South Shields, three precious points are up for grabs in Monday’s fixture.

Previous meetings

Goals are not usually in short supply if previous Cheshire derby clashes are to go by.

Both sides have scored in each of their last eight meetings, with the last time either failed to find the target coming during a goalless draw at Cantilever Park back in April 2018.

Last October, Jordan Buckley scored at the Weaver Stadium as the Yellows came from behind to rescue a point against the Dabbers.

Town went on to win the reverse fixture 2-1 in February, thanks to goals from Sean Williams and Buckley again.

Warrington Town manager Mark Beesley insists his side can take plenty of heart from Saturday’s performance against Ashton United.

Although he has called on his players to be more ruthless in the final third, Beesley insists that goals will soon start to flow.

He has also provided an injury update ahead of Monday’s return to action.
