Preview: Warrington Town vs Peterborough Sports

The games keep coming thick and fast for Warrington Town as they welcome Peterborough Sports to the UNIS Compliance Stadium this Saturday in the National League North.

The Yellows continued to demonstrate their fighting spirit on Tuesday night as goalkeeper Dan Atherton’s remarkable header deep into second half stoppage time rescued Mark Beesley’s side a point against Farsley Celtic.

Now they will be hoping to extend their six-match unbeaten run in all competitions this weekend, taking on a Sports side four points further back in the league table.

Mark Beesley Preview

Manager Mark Beesley is hoping another healthy home crowd can be the difference as they prepare for the second of back-to-back home games in the space of a week.

The Yellows have been supported well throughout the season so far, and welcomed a season-high home crowd of 1,347 for their last Saturday outing at the UNIS Compliance Stadium.

“The crowd are helping massively and I can’t thank them enough,” he said.

“They’ve been pushing us and pushing us and we can hear them. That’s what you need – we say it all the time, it’s a big occasion when Warrington Town are at home now.

“We need them to keep helping us, and we need them again on Saturday.”

On the threat posed by Saturday’s visitors, he added: “We’re in a good league, aren’t we?

“We all know that. There are tough games and anyone can beat anyone. Hopefully we can have a really good crowd again and a good performance.”
