Preview: Warrington Town vs South Shields

Warrington Town return to the UNIS Compliance Stadium this Saturday where they welcome South Shields in Vanarama National League North action.

The Yellows displayed great team unity last time out, when Mark Beesley and his side earned a point in a 1-1 draw on the road to an inform Alfreton Town, despite last-minute changes due to illness.

Manager Mark Beesley is looking forward to a reunion with South Shields after both clubs secured a deserved promotion from the Northern Premier League last season but believes his side will have to utilise all of their experience from previous meetings to overcome a high-flying Mariners side.

South Shields currently sit in 3rd place in the National League North, just two points away from front-runners Tamworth.

“Like ourselves, they deserve to be at this level because they’ve done well enough in the league below,” Beesley said.

“We should’ve gone up three years ago and they should’ve gone up during the Covid year, so it’s great that we’re playing them now in the National League North.

“They’re full-time footballers and we know what they’re about. We need to be ready for them. It’ll be a difficult game, as they all are – it’s the level we’re at.

“We know they have a strong passing game so we’ve got to be ready to adapt and work on things on Tuesday and Thursday.”
