Report: Farsley Celtic 0-2 Warrington Town
Two quick-fire Connor Woods goals fired Warrington Town to a 2-0 win away at Farsley Celtic.
Woods poked home from close range three minutes before half time after Evan Gumbs was twice denied by Zan-Luk Leban, and then he added a second minutes later, firing home in trademark style across the ‘keeper.
It was no more than their first half efforts deserved and they played out the second half relatively trouble-free to mark a return to winning ways and move within three points of the play-off places.
The Yellows made two changes to the starting team that lost to Southport last time out, Evan Gumbs coming in at left-back and skipper Josh Amis returning up front.

They started the game strongly and Woods could have opened the scoring inside the first minute. Sean Williams released Matty McDonald down the left and ‘keeper Leban, a Slovenia youth international on loan from Everton, rushed out of his box to divert the ball away. He only managed to find Woods, who shot from 25 yards out but saw it headed off the line by Rudy Misambo.
Woods and Isaac Buckley-Ricketts were looking threatening out wide and from a corner, the Yellows somehow didn’t score when a goalmouth scramble had the ball ricocheting everywhere but the back of the net.
A lovely cross field ball by Peter Clarke was then fired wide by Woods as the Yellows did all the early running, and Amis had a header pushed wide by Leban.
They finally got the reward their efforts deserved on 42 minutes, Gumbs motoring forward and getting the ball back off McDonald in space in the box, seeing two shots denied by Leban before managing to divert the loose ball to Woods who poked home.
The second goal was all class from Woods, found by McDonald on the right, he managed to beat left-back David Adewoju on the outside and then steered a shot in to the far corner.
It was the hosts that had to come out second half and change the game, but all they could muster was a Tom Allan header that went over the bar.
