“There’s a real buzz around town” – Three weeks to go!

There are just three weeks to go until Warrington Town start a historic first season in National League North.

Excitement has been building with record season ticket sales – with nearly double the club’s previous highest tally now sold – and the recent release of the fixtures for the 2023/24 season.

The Yellows will open up with a mouth-watering trip to Southport before back-to-back home games against Blyth Spartans and Buxton.

Following the club’s fixture release networking event, almost half of the available Match and Ball Sponsorship packages have been taken, while the new match day hospitality package, the 1949 Club, has also proved popular with work ongoing in the clubhouse to increase capacity of the hospitality lounge.

There has been a lot of planning going on behind the scenes also to ensure that Cantilever Park is brought up to the appropriate ground grading level required for National League North ahead of the March deadline.

Manager Mark Beesley said: “Everyone is looking forward to it. That’s the joy of going up, the first thing you want to talk about is when you are playing the big teams and the local big teams.

“Looking at the fixture list, it’s all real now. There’s still a buzz around, 10 weeks after the play-offs, there’s still a buzz everywhere I go and we’re getting really good support pre-season.”

Discussing the opening weekend, he added: “It’ll be good for our supporters who will go there [to Southport].

“It’s a good team, it’s a great stadium, they’re a good club, they’ve got a very experienced, successful manager, they’ve got good players.

“It’s a baptism of fire for us. It’s welcome to National League North, we’re playing a really good team and we’ve got to be right on it to compete with them.

“A good start is important but also having a good end as well, as proved last year losing one in 25! To give everybody confidence and everybody belief, a good start is important but it’s not the be all and end all, because you’ve still got 46 league games.

“We’ve just got to be ready and keep doing what we’re doing.”
