Warrington Town FC features on new MONOPOLY board

Warrington Town FC has been chosen as one of the property squares on the new Warrington edition of the world-famous MONOPOLY board game.

The game was launched with a gigantic life-size replica of the MONOPOLY: Warrington Edition baord at an event at Walton Hall and Gardens, attended by club chairman Toby Macormac and general manager Lisa Macormac.

All the famous multi-coloured MONOPOLY property squares like Mayfair and Park Lane from the classic original game are represented by Warrington landmarks and organisations.

Warrington Town FC sits alongside Warrington Wolves rugby league club in the pink section of the game having been selected following a public vote.

It includes a range of other Warrington landmarks, including the Golden Gates, Victoria Park and The Pink Eye, as well as charities such as Warrington Foodbank, St Rocco’s Hospice and The Tim Parry and Johnathan Ball Peace Centre.

Chairman Toby Macormac said: “It’s a great achievement for us on a historic and timeless board such as this.

“I say it’s an achievement because it was the people of Warrington that voted for us in the public vote, which shows how many people in the town are behind us.

“It’s fantastic for the club and we’re really pleased with it.”

MONOPOLY first hit the shelves in 1935 and over the last 25 years, Winning Moves UK and Hasbro has produced official versions of MONOPOLY in places all over the world from Sydney to Dubai… and now Warrington. Warrington is the first place in Cheshire to have the honour, having beaten off competition from 19 other places.

Jennifer Lau, Custom Games Executive at Winning Moves UK, said: “We have been wonderfully spoilt for choice putting this unique game together. It’s a board celebrating Warrington’s past and present and is very much reflective of the times.”

The MONOPOLY: Warrington Edition will be available to purchase from the Warrington Town FC club shop soon.
