Yellows claim 3-0 victory to move into play-off spot

Warrington Town recorded a routine 3-0 victory at home to Stalybridge Celtic.

In-form striker Jordan Buckley scored for a fifth league game in a row to put the Yellows on their way to ending Celtic’s four match winning run.

He powered home a header from Sean Williams’ cross after 11 minutes to give the hosts the lead.

And they looked far more composed than in recent weeks, with ‘keeper Dan Atherton left with little to do.

Stalybridge had some neat moments Keenan Quansah heading over, and Marcus Dackers looking dangerous but they struggled to carve out clear cut opportunities.

Dackers and Bakkor helped create the best one, dispossessing Atherton only for Mark Roberts to get back to head away Dackers’ attempt.

Warrington have been vulnerable at times at home late on this season, squandering leads against Basford and Buxton in recent weeks, but they made the points safe eight minutes from time.

Matt Grivosti was barged over in the box and up stepped Sean Williams, to score his first goal since returning to the club from Altrincham on-loan.

They put icing on the cake in injury time too, Grivosti again involved, this time setting up Ben Hough, who had replaced Buckley barely minutes earlier.
