Beesley pleased with reaction in win at Farsley Celtic
Warrington Town manager Mark Beesley was delighted with the way his side responded to last week’s disappointing defeat at Southport as they returned to winning ways with a 2-0 victory at Farsley Celtic.
A brace from Connor Woods late in the first half paved the way to victory as the Yellows kept pace with the teams above them in the play-off picture.
Tuesday’s win at the Citadel was the perfect reaction to their home defeat seven days earlier, and Beesley was happy with the manner of performance displayed by his players in West Yorkshire.
“I thought it was a really good performance from us,” he said post-match.

“We showed intent in the game straight away, and I was a bit disappointed that we weren’t one or two goals up early on.
“Farsley came into the game a little bit, but we kept going and scored two great goals.
“In the second half, I thought we kept them at arm’s length and Dan [Atherton] didn’t have a save to make all game. We defended really well as a team, and the four lads at the back did a really good job for us.”
One of the aforementioned back four was Evan Gumbs, who started at left-back in place of Kacper Pasiek and in the absence of Andy White.

More well-known as a no-nonsense centre-back, the marauding Gumbs played a large role in Woods’ opening goal, having twice been denied by home goalkeeper Zan-Luk Leban before his team-mate poked home from close range to break the deadlock.
Discussing his performance, Beesley added: “At times we have to play different players in different positions for different games. Farsley are quite physical and have a long throw. They’re good at what they do, and I thought Evan could help us with that.
“We all know how good a player he is, but he’s had bad luck with injuries. After being out for five months with injury, he’s making his way back and has been patient.
“He’s more than capable of doing a job, and I’m a little disappointed that he didn’t score!”
