Matty Grivosti: We can deal with short turnaround

Warrington Town forward Matty Grivosti insists the squad has what it takes to deal with this weekend’s August bank holiday double-header.

The Yellows visit Boston United on Saturday 26 August before welcoming Curzon Ashton to the UNIS Compliance Stadium 48 hours later.

Mark Beesley’s squad will look to extend their promising start to the season, having picked up three wins from their opening four games in the National League North.

Despite being limited in numbers, partly due to the club’s recent spate of injuries, Grivosti is confident that they can pick up where they left off at Chorley and continue to grow confidence-wise.

“The short turnaround on the bank holiday is tough, but the lads are professional,” he said.

“We do everything we can to be ready for games in terms of recovery and preparation, so it’s especially important for the bank holiday games coming up.

“We know we have a small squad, but it’s a strong squad and every player has quality, so we know that whatever 11 is on the pitch at anytime, we will be good enough to win games.

“It’s been a strong start and we’ve learned a lot in the first few games while also picking up points along the way, so that’s a bonus.

“It’s a good start, but it’s just a start. We’ve had some good performances and it gives us confidence in what we do, which shows its working, but it’s about maintaining that throughout the season to give us the best possible position when the season finishes.”

Saturday’s trip to the Jakemans Community Stadium will be an exciting one for the Yellows, with the Pilgrims’ stadium earmarked as one of the best in the division.

That makes their upcoming fixture all the more eagerly-anticipated for Grivosti, who also insists that the options available at the top end of the pitch – bolstered by the recent loan capture of Dylan Mottley-Henry – will be a real benefit as the Yellows look to add to their goal tally, starting in Loncolnshire.

“There’s some amazing places we get to visit this year and it’s exciting to play on good pitches and big stadiums,” he added.

“We hope to go to these places and give the fans a good day out. Boston being the first long away trip, we will go there to a good pitch and show them what we can do.”
