Preview: Alfreton Town vs Warrington Town

Focus will be fixed back upon National League North action this Saturday, as Warrington Town travel to the Impact Arena Stadium to take on Alfreton Town.

The Yellows returned to winning ways in the league thanks to their recent 1-0 victory over King’s Lynn Town, and they will hope to build on that this Saturday as Mark Beesley’s side aim to close the gap to Alfreton down to a point.

Manager Mark Beesley will be determined to pick up a positive result away at Alfreton this weekend, but understands the quality that the Reds possess.

Alfreton Town currently sit 5th in the National League North and have won their last four matches in league and cup, scoring 12 goals in the process.

“I think they’re excellent. We’ve had to report on them, we’ve watched them,” he said.

“Every team is good in this league in different ways, and I think they’re outstanding. They’ve got energy, they’ve got strength, they’re aggressive.

“It’s probably one of the toughest games we could have at the moment because they’re in red-hot form, but that’s the league we’re in and that’s what we signed up for.

“We’ve got to get a game plan, train Thursday and be ready for it.”

Left-back Andy White says it is up to the players to put in a performance to be proud of on Saturday, against one of the division’s form sides.

White has started the Yellows’ last two wins and is keen to see the squad continue to gather momentum as they grow more used to the rigours of week-to-week National League North football.

“If we can take care of our collective and individual performances at both ends of the pitch, then we’ll put in a solid away performance,” he said.

“We’ll respect an in-form Alfreton, but also try to find a way to stamp our own authority on the game in the right moments.”
