Report: Warrington Town 1-0 King’s Lynn Town

Warrington Town returned to winning ways thanks to Isaac Buckley-Ricketts’ first half goal in a 1-0 win at home to King’s Lynn Town.

The Yellows handed a debut to ex-Liverpool defender Andre Wisdom and it brought a more than deserved first clean sheet and first win since August 19.

Buckley-Ricketts latched on to a clipped ball forward by Dec Walker in to the right channel to lash home across ‘keeper Paul Jones, who had earlier denied Connor Woods at point blank range, tipping a shot on the post.

The Yellows had the ball in the net for a second time through Mitch Duggan in the closing stages, only for the defender to be denied by an offside flag.

Prior to that, Buckley-Ricketts had twice raced through on goal and fired just wide, while at the other end Atherton was only once called in to shot saving action, denying substitute Quaine Bartley on the edge of the box after the forward had nipped in behind Peter Clarke.

Despite their injury troubles restricting them to just 12 senior players, with Bohan Dixon also missing through illness, it was a morale-boosting win for the home side, who now have a fortnight until their next game.

Buckley-Ricketts had the best chance in the opening quarter, hooking a shot over the bar from an excellent Duggan cross, before he put a ball in for Woods to bring down and somehow be denied by Jones at full stretch.

The opening goal came on 37 minutes and by the hour mark, it could have been three.
